Welcome

to the 19th century art of medicine

This website contains information and resources for those interested in Victorian medical, apothecary, and dental instruments and practices. You will also find information and artifacts relating to home medical care, quack medicine, and medical related art and advertising.

I have been collecting medical antiques for approximately 11 year. The collection has grown over the years, and I plan to add as many artifacts as possible to the website. To the best of my knowlege, all items represented on the site are circa the 1800s. Those items that I believe pre or post-date the 19th century will be clearly marked. Please feel free to contact me with questions, corrections, or if you have an interesting antique medical item for sale. I am always looking to expand the collection.

Medical Display Information

We are available for medical lectures and displays, and enjoy sharing our unique collection of 19th century medical artifacts with the public. While primarily focused on Civil War medicine, our displays also feature home care during the 19th century, as well as many apothecary and dental tools of the trade.

We have participated in a number of events in support of historic sites, such as the Manassas National Battlefield Park, Brentsville Courthouse, Cherry Hill Historic House and Farm, Sully Plantation, and Ben Lomand Historic Site. Please visit the displays page for additional information and images.
